Special Board Meeting - 12/21/2020 at 11:00 AM

It has come to the board's attention that we have an unanticipated issue, which has come forward relative to the smoke detectors in the Pilot House. This issue is coming up, as a result of the Ceiling and Lighting Upgrade project underway in the Pilot House Interior halls and lobby areas. FLSA is our current maintenance contractor, who is responsible for all of our smoke detectors. We have thirty (30) smoke detectors located throughout the building on all interior floors and hallways, which are mounted in the ceiling tiles or mounted in a hard ceiling area. As we are currently replacing all of the ceiling tiles throughout the building, it is requiring us to pull out the existing smoke alarms and reinstall them in the new ceiling tile. FLSA has indicated that there is a higher failure rate, associated with reinstalling or relocating aging smoke alarms. Because of the age and vintage of our smoke detectors, FLSA is recommending replacement of them. As this expense is greater than $1,000, it will require a Special Meeting of the board to review this. This meeting will be a public meeting, similar to all board meetings, yet the only agenda item and topic will be to consider the replacement of the 30 smoke detectors. There will be no additional public business conducted. It is the preferred route that we address this issue now, so as not to slow down the progress of the work being performed by DSG and FLSA, as well as to insure that we maintain a high degree of safety surrounding our smoke detectors.

The Special Board meeting will occur at 11:00 am on Monday, December 21.

It will be a virtual meeting with the following dial-up information:

Dial-in number (US): (425) 436-6280 - Access code: 496226#
