Fall Social Forecast & Preparation

Good Evening,

The Social Committee is looking forward to welcoming everyone to our Fall Social tomorrow, November 1 at 3PM, on the riverfront! In preparation for the event, please note the following details and reminders:

1. Vendor & Catering Setup

• Vendor spaces in the surface lot have been reserved and are marked with cones.

• Please do not park in these spaces; they are designated for catering and event staff use.

  
  

2. Dock & Furniture Setup

• Event furniture and décor on the dock will be arranged Saturday morning to ensure the space is ready for guests.

• Party details, including lighting, music setup, and service stations, will be finalized by 2:00 PM Saturday.

3. Weather Outlook

• The forecast for Norfolk calls for cool, clear fall weather, with temperatures in the mid-60s during the day, dropping into the low 50s by evening.

• A light breeze off the Elizabeth River is expected — please dress comfortably for the waterfront chill after sunset.

4. What to Bring

• Seating is limited on the dock; if you wish, please feel free to bring a chair.

• A light jacket is recommended for the cooler evening temperatures.

• Shuckers: Don’t forget your tools for clams and oysters!

5. Menu

Hors d’Oeuvres

• Loaded Baby Potatoes – Filled with sour cream, cheddar cheese, bacon, and chives.

• Mini Chicken Tacos – Topped with pico de gallo and a Baja sauce drizzle.

• Blackened Tuna Tidbits – Served cold with cucumber-wasabi dip.

• Strawberry Bruschetta – Sliced strawberries, goat cheese spread, and toasted walnuts served on crostini.

• Tomato, Mozzarella & Basil Bruschetta – Served on crostini with a balsamic reduction drizzle.

• Chowder - Thanks for Buffy Devnew for providing her clam chowder!

• Oysters & Clams – With the usual fixings: cocktail sauce and lemon wedges.

6. Bar Details

• This party will feature Sonia the bartender for the afternoon, who will ensure your beverages are well delivered.

  • Tips are appreciated.

• The bar will feature a selection of wine, and limited alcoholic + Non-alcoholic beverages will also be served.

• Please enjoy responsibly and help us keep the dock area tidy throughout the evening.

Grill Master Alert 🔥

• The Social Committee proudly salutes John Bowers, our fearless Grill Master Extraordinaire, who’s volunteered to command the flames for the evening.

• John will be steaming your oysters and clams to absolute perfection — expect nothing less than culinary greatness with a hint of riverfront flair.

• Please shower him with praise for his impeccably polished grill and blindingly shiny grates. Rumor has it he buffed them just for the occasion.

• Feel free to approach the grill — but do so with respect and perhaps a beverage offering. It’s his domain now.
