To All Pilot House Residents:
At our annual meeting in September, I will be seeking a third term for an open seat on our association’s Board of Directors. I have served in the capacity of Treasurer for the past 5 years and ask for your support so that I may continue to serve.
For those of you who are new to the Pilot House, I grew up in the Boston area but have lived in Norfolk since 1982, moving to the Pilot House in 2014. My educational background includes the attainment of two degrees, a bachelor’s degree in Nursing and an MBA from ODU, retiring from full-time employment in 2014. In addition to serving on our board, I volunteered at Slover Library for over 5 years and was on the Board of the Friends of the Norfolk Public Library for several years. During Covid, I volunteered with the Virginia Medical Reserve Corps administering vaccines to both adults and children.
It has been a pleasure to serve on the Pilot House board. A great deal has been accomplished in recent years: a new roof; installment of both the Open Path entry system and eight security cameras; refurbishment of the garage; a much-needed update of the building interior (painting, carpeting, and lighting); establishment of an active PH website; and most recently, a transition to a new Management Company. And we are not done. Living in a building that is over 40 years old and in close proximity to the water necessitates the need for continuous upkeep and renovation.
While serving as Treasurer, I have attempted to keep the Board and our entire community up to date on our financial health. The monthly financials are available on our website and financial summaries are reported to the Board at least every two months. In addition, I have tried to make myself available to answer any questions unit owners may have about either our general finances or the cost of Board approved undertakings.
Once again, I hope to have your continued support to remain on the board for another term.
Thank you! Jeanne Bowers
